Day One
Every visit to Montgomery starts at this splendidly preserved train station, where tourists can enjoy a quick video highlighting things to see and do in Montgomery, and pick up brochures and other information. Visitors should stop at Montgomery’s official unique Gift Shop for memorable souvenirs! Free admission.
Perfect for all ages! Over forty restored Alabama structures depicting life in the precise detail of the l9th and early 20th centuries. Structures include the Lucas Tavern, Grange Hall, a doctor’s office, school, shotgun house, drugstore museum, cotton gin, corner grocery and much more. Admission charge.
12:00 Lunch
Choose from a variety of restaurants. Unique downtown choices vary from southern specialties to all-time favorites. Try Capitol Grill, Martha’s Place or Hamburger King.
The “MOOseum” is a delightful family attraction containing wonderful interactive displays and hands-on activities for children providing an interesting and fun time for the entire family. Kids will find a fresh new view of Alabama history in this fun-filled children’s education center. Free admission.
This Montgomery jewel is the oldest state-funded Archives in the nation, constructed in l940. Walk through history in the many museum galleries and exhibits as well as the genealogical research facility. There’s a great break for the kids in “Grandma’s Attic!” Don’t miss it! Free admission.
5:00 Dinner
Stay downtown for a great taste of Montgomery. Family friendly restaurants include Corsino’s Italian Restaurant or the Montgomery Brew Pub.
Come out and cheer on the Montgomery Biscuits in this wonderful new stadium with state-of-the-art jumbo screens. Admission charge.

Day Two
Don’t miss the spectacular views of wildlife in natural, “barrier free” exhibits. With more than 40 acres, the Montgomery Zoo is home to over 700 animals from five continents. Be sure to take an adventurous ride on the Zoo’s train. The kids will love it! Admission charge.
An experience like no other in Montgomery! The museum has amazing interactive presentations of North American Wildlife collections. Unique displays can be viewed from three sides. The kids will be captivated! Admission charge.
11:30 Lunch
Enjoy lunch at the Zoo’s Overlook Café, or head to the east side of Montgomery for lunch at Flip’s Uptown Grill, and an afternoon of fun.
The ARTWORKS Gallery is a fabulous spot for the children to explore art. The gallery includes 30 stations of original art, computer displays and a mezzanine of books, games and puzzles. ARTWORKS interprets the permanent collection of the Museum, but also commissions original art specifically designed for art education. Free admission. Donations welcome.
