Montgomery Welcomes USA/ASA Girls’ 12-Under National Softball Championship

Montgomery, Ala. – The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitor Bureau (CVB) welcomes the Amateur Softball Association Girls’ 12 and under National Softball Championship to the capital city, July 31 – August 7, 2011.

The event will host 89 girls’ softball teams from across the nation competing for the 12 and under Class A Championship title.  Along with the teams will be nearly 3,300 coaches, family members and fans that will occupy Montgomery hotels and enjoy the southern cuisine throughout the week.

“Recruiting sporting events, especially girls’ sports, to the capital city is a crucial component of CVB sales,” Vice President Dawn Hathcock said. “Girls tend to bring multiple members of their family, friends and additional fans with them which generate a much larger economic impact for Montgomery.”

Opening ceremonies will be held Sunday, July 31^stat Riverwalk Stadium at 6:30 p.m.  All other games will be held at Dean Fain Park and Lagoon Park Softball Complex. Adult tournament passes are $40 and youth passes are $20. Daily adult tickets are $8 and youth tickets are $5. The Championship will be played on Sunday, August 7^that Lagoon Park.
