September 29, 2011

Montgomery, Ala. – September 23, 2011 – The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau, along with Paula M. Miles, President of RPM Productions, Inc. and Mayor Todd Strange announced today that the city of Montgomery has been selected as the new home of the Miss Alabama USA and Miss Alabama Teen USA Pageants.  This marks the first time in the pageant’s history that Montgomery will host the illustrious event.  The pageant will take place January 27thand 28that the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre.

“We are very excited that RPM Productions has chosen Montgomery to host the 2012 Miss Alabama USA and Miss Alabama Teen USA pageants,” Dawn Hathcock, Vice President for the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitor Bureau said.  “It seems to be a natural fit to bring these prestigious events to Alabama’s capital city and we are honored to host them and showcase Montgomery and the River Region.”

“Alabama’s Capital City of Montgomery is the perfect home for the Miss Alabama USA and Miss Alabama Teen USA Pageants,” explains Miles.  “The contestants, their friends and families, will be treated to a first class event and will be able to experience the revitalization of the Riverfront district in downtown Montgomery.”

The pageants are the Official State Preliminaries to the Miss USA®and Miss Teen USA®Pageants, which are part of the Miss Universe Organization, an NBC Universal and Donald J. Trump partnership.  Miss Alabama USA 2011, Madeline Mitchell, was named 2ndRunner Up at the nationally televised Miss USA Pageant in June.

The pageants will feature contestants between the ages of 14-26, who will compete in interview, swimsuit and evening gown competitions.  They will be competing for thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes as well as the ability to travel the state promoting the pageants and it’s charitable alliances.  The two winners will have the experience of a lifetime representing the state of Alabama at the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants.  Every contestant competing in the year’s pageant has the opportunity to receive a full scholarship to Troy University.  “We are so thrilled to partner with Troy University and are excited to extend this amazing opportunity to all of the young women competing for Miss Alabama USA and Miss Alabama Teen USA,” Miles proclaims.

This will mark the first year that RPM Productions, Inc. has produced the Miss Alabama USA and Miss Alabama Teen USA Pageants.  RPM has been a subsidiary of the Miss Universe Organization since 1980.  They have produced the Miss South Carolina USA Pageant since 1980, the Miss Louisiana USA Pageant since 1990 and the Miss North Carolina USA Pageant since 1992.  In Mrs. Miles first year with the Miss Universe Organization, her very first winner, Shawn Weatherly, won the Miss Universe Pageant in Seoul, Korea.  In the following years, her company has produced 4 Miss USA’s, 2 Miss Teen USA’s and 1 Miss World.  “We hope to bring our success to the beautiful state of Alabama,” states Miles.
