Montgomery, Ala. – The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitor Bureau is excited to announce that the First White House of the Confederacy will now be open on Saturdays 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Saturday tours are extremely important to the leisure market. Most tourists visit during the weekend, so having the First White House of the Confederacy open on Saturday will have a tremendous impact on tourism for our community.
This year begins the commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War. The First White House of the Confederacy played a significant role during the war and served as Jefferson Davis’ family residence from February-May 1861.
The First White House of the Confederacy is located at 644 Washington Avenue in downtown Montgomery. It neighbors the Alabama Department of Archives and History.
