PRESS RELEASE

Alabama Tourism Releases Songwriters Contest CD

December 01, 2011

Montgomery, Ala. — The top 11 songs from the Year of Alabama Music Songwriters Contest are featured on a CD titled Alabama Road Songs. The tourism department will release the CD at an event Tues. Dec 6 from 5:30- 7:30 p.m. at American Idol winner Taylor Hick’s restaurant, Ore, in Birmingham. Season 4 American Idol finalist Bo Bice and Alabama Songwriter Contest winner Joseph Baldwin will host the event.

The title and artwork on the CD was created to coincide with the 2012 tourism campaign “100 Alabama Road Trips.” The songs are about Alabama and were written by songwriters who live in or are from the state. A limited number of CDs were produced to provide to media and tourism promoters. The general public will have access to free downloads on the CD Babywebsite. David Johnson Productions produced the CD.

“We wanted to create a CD that people could listen to in their car while traveling in Alabama,” said tourism director Lee Sentell. “The songs are all original and provide a taste of the talent that our great state has to offer.”

Joseph Baldwin will perform his song, “I’m Alabama” and will be joined by other regional winners at the event. Guests will also be treated to the premiere of Baldwin’s “I’m Alabama” music video.

The cover of the CD shows a 1953 baby blue Cadillac parked near a pier on Lake Guntersville. The photo represents the road trips campaign. The inside cover features a car tag and the Cadillac along an Alabama highway. An insert provides a photo montage of all the songwriters on the CD as well as the lyrics to the songs.
